REACHH Launches Initiative to Help Students Access Online Learning

Washington, DC – Sep 14, 2020 – Millions of children will be returning to school, many of whom will be receiving their education online without the essential tools or finances to purchase them. REACHH has launched a Reach Back Raise Up – ‘Always Connected’ initiative to provide Internet access, data plans, and laptops that will aid in narrowing the digital gap and help children obtain the education they deserve.

(R)espond, (E)mpower, (A)dvance, (C)ommunity, (H)ope, and w(H)oleness (REACHH) is a 501(c)(3) “for – purpose” philanthropic organization inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to provide innovative solutions to address social and racial injustice, and education and economic inequality concerns facing our most isolated and vulnerable communities. REACHH has launched a GoFundMe page to raise its goal of $1,325,000 for its Reach Back Raise Up – ‘Always Connected’ initiative.

The funds will be used to purchase 500 laptops equipped with LTE, enabling students to access the Internet even if they don’t have Wi-Fi. For families that don’t have Internet access at all and / or a device to connect to it, this initiative solves both challenges giving students the ability to effectively participate in online learning. Along with the devices, we also envision implementing a remote proctor assistant for teachers and students to provide technical assistance to anyone who needs dedicated, specialized attention.

Contributors can make a monetary donation via the organization’s GoFundMe fundraising campaign by partially funding an LTE on-the-go laptop for $249. People can also fund a one-month LTE data plan for $99 or make a recurring monthly donation of $99 to provide an ongoing LTE data plan. Laptops will be equipped with a suite of applications students need to participate in online classes and distance learning.  All donations are tax deductible and any amount is appreciated.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many students to adapt to remote learning online. Lack of Internet access or reliable connectivity in low-income neighborhoods places students at risk of falling behind. In some instances, students are forced to travel to fast food restaurants and sit outside on the fringes to obtain the critical online access they need.

The REACHH initiative is committed to helping children in underserved neighborhoods reach their full potential through educational opportunities. The organization is focused on serving the needs of underprivileged communities. REACHH is working to find sustainable solutions to the social, economic and political issues facing society and to support justice, equality and dignity for everyone.
