Los Angeles, CA, USA – The three-day Womens’ Empowerment Series known as the “Woman of Achievement” National Pageant was held on the iconic Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA on November 15 – 17, 2019. Celebrating its 6th, the event honors women’s achievements in media, business, and philanthropy from across the U.S. The 2020 National Winners are selected through a series of speeches, displays of creative expression, and personal interviews with an esteemed panel of judges.

Commencing on Friday, November 15, 2019 with the “Women in Bloom” Luncheon the first cash award recipients were announced. Speakers included Susan G. Komen – Los Angeles County, NAFE Global Leadership Representative, Robbie Motter (Keynote Speaker & Founder of GSFE – Global Society of Female Entrepreneurs), as well as Social Branding expert Adam Flores, Linda Fogg Phillips of “Tiny Habits”, Linda Xochitl Avalos “Women’s Empowerment” expert, Dr. Nephatina Serrano (Relationship Expert) and Charles Nguyen (Mental Money Management). A series of workshops culminated in networking opportunities and photo shoots of the National Finalists. Two days of competition then ensued.

To kick off the 3-day event, CEO Marlena Martina and Editor in Chief Lisa Sussman unveiled the cover of the newly founded “WOA Magazine” at the “Women in Bloom” luncheon. “WOA Magazine” will highlight various women including WOA “California Woman of The Year” Robbie Motter as well as past and current National Finalists and other women with exceptional stories to tell from across the nation.

“The program is all about the beauty in achievement and giving back. These qualities do not have an age limit,” says National Director Marlena Martin. “Our contestants are volunteers, mothers, mentors, and start up entrepreneurs who have much to offer the world and are chosen for how they are enriching their local communities.” Marlena Martin, CEO of Woman of Achievement & Teen Achieve

Editor in Chief Lisa Sussman of the “WOA Magazine” also serves as editor-in-chief of “Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week Magazine”. Lisa’s partnership with major designers in addition to Macy’s and other national brands, uniquely qualifies her to be Editor-in-Chief of the “WOA National Magazine”. Her career track as a recognized journalist, community activist and on camera announcer confirms “local goes global” is the editorial message for the coming 2020 year. Her newly titled role as the 2020 U.S. Woman of Achievement Ambassador will coincide with her work in the Bahamas with FEMA’s clean up and rebuilding efforts. Sussman’s Platform highlighting STARZ Foundation and other innovations for “Sustainable Housing Options” for underserved communities in the US won her the top Speech Award at last year’s Woman of Achievement Leadership Weekend.
